Global Community Rising

Global Community Rising is a humanitarian non-profit organization started in South Africa. We strive to establish sustainability and build capacity among the people we work with. This provides a way forward for people to have the knowledge and skills to stand up for themselves and lead a more fulfilling life. We link people together so they can assist and empower each other.

The people in the rural marginalized communities experience many challenges in their daily life. About 4% have running water. There is a 60-70% unemployment rate. There are many orphans and orphan headed households. The affects of apartheid still linger, which include crime and gender inequality.

The HIV rate is about one out of 4 people and even higher in other areas. There is a cycle of poverty and a lack of ability to believe in themselves. There are little opportunities for youth once they have completed high school.

Many of the youth we work with come from orphan headed households. Many challenges face these youth but with encouragement and support they are learning to stand up for themselves.

Global Community Rising focuses its work on music, arts, culture, sports and agriculture.
