Groundswell is an emerging ecovillage and retreat center located in the southern tip of the Anderson Valley. Just two hours north of San Francisco, our goals are to develop both a vibrant and sustainable intentional community as well as a thriving center for environmental and cultural education and transformation. We took possession of a 185-acre former youth camp in early Fall of 2014 and are now working a metamorphosis on the land towards these goals.
Our Vision: We embody a culture where queer is valued as integral to a deeply conscious world in which creativity thrives in harmony with nature.
Informed by our vision and core values, Groundswell seeks to create a new culture based in cooperation, compassion and our varied, queer perspectives. We cultivate and propagate this culture through Groundswell Institute’s programs held at our rustic but well-equipped camp facilities. The camp and community are located on both sides of our year-round creek and occupy only a small portion of the land – the majority remains beautiful redwood and cedar forests alongside oak-studded meadows.
