HEART Artist Guild & Theatre Company

HEART began in the summer of 2014 out of a need for stimulating, creative, and community engaged day activity programs for adults with developmental disabilities in the Charleston area. Our mission is to provide an innovative art and theatre community that promotes creative expression, independence, dignity and community integration for differently abled adults.

HEART Artist Guild & Theatre Company is a 501c3 non-profit and a creative and adventurous family of artists, performers, and nature lovers! We are a model for inclusive programs where nature and city adventure, arts, and theatre are used to connect adults (21+) with disabilities and their communities. HEART members (aka; HEARTists) create visual and performance art, go on nature & city explorations, and have great fun while making meaningful contributions to society.

Inclusive and adaptive activities enhance personal and social skills and help differently abled people understand their place in the world. People in the larger community can come to see for themselves that we are much more like individuals with disabilities than we are different.
