BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is an organization dedicated to fostering science and engineering among high school and middle school students throughout the country. Each year, a competition is held where students construct a robot to perform a collection of tasks from a limited set of materials. Heart of Texas (H.O.T.) BEST is a "hub" where schools from the Central Texas area gather to find the goals of that year's competition (they are different each year), get their kits of raw materials to build their robots, and show off their skills on competition day. The winning team will then move on to the Regional competition in Dallas, Texas, at the University of Texas at Dallas.
