Heartland Aviation, Inc. is an aviation service-based company
located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Heartland Aviation, formerly
known as Gibson Aviation, was started in 1961 by Darrell
Gibson. Throughout the next couple of decades, the business grew,
as well as the services offered.
In 1989, Larry and Jeff Husby acquired Gibson Aviation.
Renamed Heartland Aviation in 1995, the fixed base operation
adapted very well to an ever-changing set of needs .For instance, at
one time, Heartland flew around many of the banks cancelled
checks, providing to the needs of the financial industry. When
Check21 came into play, which enabled banks to clear checks
electronically, the check runs were no longer needed. Heartland
adapted by entering the air ambulance arena, which turned out to
be an excellent compliment to the company’s charter income.
Another example of Heartland’s adaptation skills would be that
when the fuel prices rose to nearly $6.00 per gallon, Heartland
added it’s Cessna 152, which gave customers a more cost-effective
way to learn to fly.
Today Heartland Aviation provides customers with quality executive
charter service, as well as air ambulance, aircraft fuel, maintenance
and rental services and flight instruction. Heartland Aviation employs
23 people, to whom Jeff and Larry attribute much of the success of the
company.
