Hermitage Heart Zen

Small things that change the world...Hermitage Heart was founded by Zen Teacher Bonnie Myotai Treace in 2004 to support those seeking to develop their spiritual lives, whether in solitude or in community.

Through the arts, meditation, puplications, online courses-Hermitage Heart offers teachings received all around the country and the world. Discover the heart of the "inner hermitage"-where silence and clarity become a compassionate life.

Sensei was for almost two decades Vice-Abbess of Zen Mountain Monastery, one of the largest Zen monasteries the West. She also established the Zen Center of New York City, and served as its first Abbess. Over the years she has led over 500 retreats, conferences, and workshops and is particularly known for her work in women's spirituality, poetry (Snapshot Poetics, with Allen Ginsberg; Writer's Island), and koan study. Her most recent published works include: Empty Branches and Winter Moon, A Season of Zen Teachings ( both from Millstone Press), and a chapter in Hidden Lamp: Stories from 25 Centuries of Awakened Women (Wisdom Publications).
