Kathryn Pomon's Music Studio

My bio:

Kathryn Pomon is a graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) with degrees in Bible and Vocal Performance as well as a minor in piano. She has studied piano for 24 years and voice for 19 years. As a teenager, Kathryn competed in the Word of Life Teens Involved Competition and placed first in the vocal soloist division and second in the drama division during the National competition in Schroon Lake, NY. While in college, Kathryn traveled with the University Chorale and performed around the United States, Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany. In 2002, Kathryn was involved in a recording of various hymns with the PBU Chorale. She also traveled in the Tri-County area with the PBU Chamber Singers, Jazz Band, and Handbell Choir. In addition, she has performed as soloists in various oratorios such as Messiah, Elijah, Brahms’s Requiem, and Haydn’s Creation.

Kathryn has been in shows such as: The Magicians Nephew (Aunt Letty - 1996); A Midsummer Nights Dream (Lysander – 1997); Anne of Green Gables (Dianna – 1999); Annie (Ensemble – 2001); My Fair Lady (Ensemble – 2002); The Music Man (Ensemble – 2002); Pirates of Penzance (Ensemble – 2003); Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino – 2006); Fiddler on the Roof (Golde - 2007); and My Way: A Tribute to Frank Sinatra (2010)

Furthermore, Kathryn performed in various Opera Workshops performing music from Carmen, Samson Et Dalila (Samsom and Delilah), Dido and Aeneas, and Faust.

Kathryn has experience teaching privately as well as in a classroom setting. She taught Music (K-8), 1st Grade, and 3rd Grade at a small Christian school in West Philadelphia. In addition, she has been teaching private voice and piano lessons for 6 years. Kathryn is currently obtaining her Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology and is currently writing her thesis on “The Diversity Within the Salsa Dance Community.”
