For 74 years, Myers Park Baptist Church has encouraged members to ask questions, debate issues, and seek truth.
Embracing the Free Pulpit is one way we continually open ourselves to new light. In the words of Dr. George Heaton, our first senior minister: "A free pulpit is the very essence of religious and political democracy . . . A free pulpit means encouragement to break new trails in thought and action; a free pulpit is a great bulwark against tyranny."
Myers Park Baptist Church was founded in 1943 by a visionary group of Baptist families, possessed by a dream to build a unique church that catered to families. Today the cornerstones of our ministry are a free pulpit, thoughtful education, an extensive local and national outreach ministry, and worship that is beautiful and draws upon the historic traditions of the church.
Our doors are open to all who wish to venture on a journey of faith to follow Jesus. We are a vibrant, ecumenical congregation comprised of people from over 20 different faith communities.
