More about National Forensic Autopsy and Tissue Recovery Services

Our Commitment

Providing effective, efficient and accurate private pathology services and tissue recovery services is critical to its impact on families, public health and safety. National Autopsy & Tissue Recovery Services is committed to this end, and standing by this claim we pride ourselves on hiring only the best specialized experts in the field, who consistently meet the highest industry standards, and deliver on our commitment.

Service Areas

Our private autopsy services and tissue recovery services extend throughout the United States and the World.

Our unique way of offering Private Autopsy Services

Our unique way of offering private autopsy services is traveling to the location of where you loved one is. We have a vast network of pathology professionals we work with that help deliver our services. Our basic fee for a full private autopsy is $3000.00. Travel expenses are added to this fee. We can usually respond and get to the location of your loved one within 1 or 2 days of the initial call. Limited autopsy examinations, such as chest/abdomen only, chest only, or head only cost less. Travel expenses are still added on to these cases as well. Please contact us for further details so we can learn more about your situation.

Professional Staff

Our pathologists are board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic, clinical, forensic, and/or neuropathology. All have performed thousands of autopsy examinations and are experienced in civil and criminal court testimony.

Neurosciences

Neurosciences is a field that has made leaps and bounds in terms of advancements over the years. We specialize in assisting families and institutions in the recovery of nervous system tissue and recovery of the brain to help document neurological disease, help families under the complexities of what their loved ones suffered from during life, and to further neurological research.

We are also active in teaching the neurosciences to help healthcare professionals understand the "pathological-clinical" correlation. That is, teaching them the pathology of neurological diseases so they can better asses patients clinically. Often times, clinically it is very difficult to discern what pathological processes are going on. With a brain autopsy, not only can the family benefit from understanding the pathology of the disease, but the clinician can also advance their clinical skills to help future neurological patients.

We are committed to advancing the understanding of neurological disease through research by recovering normal and diseased brain tissue. We work with researchers across the world who need access to this type of tissue. Together, we are all helping to advance medicine through research.

Kansas Institute of Neurological Sciences

Welcome to the Kansas Institute of Neurological Sciences. KINS is a subdivision of National Autopsy and Tissue Recovery Services. KINS has a vast network of neuroscientists dedicated to the advancement of the Neurological Sciences through research. Here at KINS our network allows us to deliver brain and neurological tissue to research scientists throughout the world.

At KINS our work centers around the recovery of brain and other neurological tissue from donors for the purpose of research. We abide by the guidelines set forth by the FDA regarding tissue donation for research purposes, proper next of kin consent, and ethical guidelines set forth by the Anatomical Gift Act. We also act as a short term neurotissue repository for center brain banks prior to shipping the tissue off to their node location.

Through our process of delicate and precise recovery of brain and other neurological tissue, our coordination with brain banks and research centers, and our vast network of neuroscientists, we are able to advance our understanding of neurological diseases and thus come that much closer to finding better treatments and perhaps, cures. KINS is Advancing Medicine through Research.

At KINS we are dedicated to supporting the basic and clinical researchers, who study causes of brain disorders and the affects of aging. Advances in molecular genetics and pathology make it possible for researchers to identify causes and cures for brain disorders such as:

Parkinson's Disease
ALS and Related Movement Disorders
Down Syndrome
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorders
Alcohol and other Drug Dependencies, including psychostimulant drugs
Traumatic Brain Injury, including sports concussions and combat-related PTSD
Major Depression and Other Neurological and Psychiatric Conditions
Forensic Neurobiology (Forensic Neuropathology) and Abusive Head Trauma (including Pediatric)
Dementia
Developmental Neurological Disorders
Normal brains, including children to help us understand how the human brain develops
Pediatric and Adult Neurological Tumors
Neuroinfectious Diseases

Please contact us with any questions you may have, we do not turn away cases and we will guide you through the donation process.

Tissue Recovery Services

Progress in treating common and rare diseases often hinges on access to both normal and diseased human tissues. But these donated tissues are often in short supply. Our company works with a vast network of research institutes throughout the World to assist in the recovery of normal and disease tissue that will be used specifically for medical research. We also assist families who are interested in having their loved one donate normal and diseased tissue for the advancement of medical research by connecting you with various organizations. We will then assist in the recovery of the required tissue to be sent off for research purposes. We recover tissue all over the World and have a vast network of professionals we work with to assist us and the research center we are working with to ensure proper consent of family members, proper recovery of tissues, and proper shipment of tissue in a timely manner.
We are NOT an organ procurement organization. This requires strict guidelines put forth by the FDA of which we do not provide such services. Procurement services are for the recovery of tissue that will be used in living patients at a future date. Our services are for the recovery of tissue that will be sent off to a research center and used specifically for research and NOT organ/tissue donation for living patients.
