Paris Bistro & Jazz Cafe is the latest collaboration between Chef Al Paris and brothers Robert and Benjamin Bynum. Located in the heart of one of Philadelphia’s most charming neighborhoods, Chestnut Hill, this classic French bistro is the dream-come-true for these successful, long time partners. Since the closing of Philadelphia’s premier jazz club, Zanzibar Blue in 2007, and the opening of Heirloom Restaurant in 2011, Al, Robert and Benjamin have been looking for the perfect location to house their classic French bistro and jazz cafe.

From the moment you step through the glass front door and descend the mosaic tiled stair into the dining room and bar, you’ll be transported to another time and place - a Parisian bistro in the 1930’s - found in any of Paris’ 20 arrondissements. Rich red leather and velvet upholstery, large, ornate mirrors and beautifully crafted, custom metal work give the dining room a warm, lived-in look - perfect to sit and enjoy a glass of Bordeaux blanc and Escargot Bourguignonne. The menu is classic bistro fare - the genuine article - no haute cuisine here, rather the food Maman would have served on a Sunday afternoon.

Travel down one flight of stairs from the dining room and bistro bar to the stylishly appointed jazz cafe where Philadelphia’s best jazz musicians will play the standards Thursday through Sunday evenings. Pick a cozy table for two or grab a seat at the bar - there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Enjoy a cocktail, after dinner drink or dinner in the cafe - the full bistro menu is available.
