Praying Mantis Boxing is characterized by its usage of both long and short range techniques, fusion of toughness and softness, with both fearless and fast movements. The spirited movements of our form symbolize the courage of the praying mantis that shows no fear. Secondly, is the quick attacking nature is characteristic of the praying mantis. In terms of body postures, the boxing practitioner is supposed to be flexible in the waist and arms, with a strong and stable lower body.

Our teacher Shifu Stan Tabor began training in Martial Arts in 1972. He started studying Mantis Kung Fu when he was 14 years old and was certified to teach in 1986. He studied in China for many years as the disciple of Grandmaster Liu Chengde in Jinan City, Shandong Province. He studied the Praying Mantis system id depth from from both Masters Zhang Bing Duo (张炳斗) and the 7th generation descendant of the Hao Family system master Sun Deyao (孙德尧).
