Rise Up Development Collective: Wli Todzi

Rise Up Development Collective, since 2010, has collaborated with the community of Wli Todzi to build a health clinic in their isolated mountaintop home. Wli Todzi is a village located in the northern Volta Region of Ghana. There are over 1000 people in the village, and as many more in the surrounding area. Nearly everyone in and around the village is a subsistence farmer. Wli Todzi is on top of the Agumatsa Mountain, 3000 feet above the valley below. Despite this, there is no road directly to the mountain, the only reliable access is a 7- 8 mile footpath from the town at the foot of the mountain. In addition, there is no hospital clinic on the mountain, meaning that people in serious need of medical attention must be carried down the sometimes- vertical path on a stretcher.
Rise Up Development Collective works in collaboration with the village of Wli Todzi to build the Wli Todzi medical clinic. Over the last two years, the village has completed construction on the walls and roof of the clinic, and is in process of completing the doors and windows, with help from a network of supporters around the world.
Rise Up Development Collective hopes that the people of Wli Todzi can get these basic resources and access which is their right, to allow Wli Todzi to join the rest of the Ghana and the world, and allow them to rise up to their full potential.
