More about Stone Cottage Garden Homestay

Gardens surround this charming homestead with rare trees & shrubs, flowers, and fresh vegetables. The living room wood stove creates a cozy place to read, talk, or watch a movie. There is off-street parking and a friendly, helpful hostess. We made quite a few improvements over the winter here and the homestead is now even prettier and more comfortable! It may just remind you of your grandmother's house.

I have two guestrooms: Number ONE is a comfortable, sunny room on the first floor and is easily accessible with only one small step onto the front porch. It has a good firm queen bed and lovely antiques. The room comes with fresh-air dried sheets, kitchen privileges, fast Wifi, and sweet cats to visit with (if you like). The shared bath is right next door to the room. The TV is in the den. There is quiet central air-conditioning for your comfort in the summer months and a small space heater in case you desire extra warmth in the winter.

Number TWO guestroom is a delightful, private, sunny, 2nd floor space which has a sweet half-bath right in the room. There is a comfortable full bed, a table and chairs, a lovely view of the garden, and a real secret compartment (ask me). The brand new "eco-carpeting" is soft to walk on. The room comes with fresh-air dried sheets, soft new towels, kitchen/house/garden privileges, very fast Wifi, and a TV. The very pretty shower/bath is downstairs and it is shared.

The vegetable garden is large and productive year-round. You can get fresh veggies right outside the door! There are even winter veggies and flowers in the attached greenhouse. It is a sweet, warm, fragrant place to sit on a cold day!

The chickens will entertain you with their antics. I am raising Langshans, which are a critically endangered Heritage breed, Dominiques, the oldest American breed, and several others. We hatch baby chicks in the spring. If you time your visit right you can hold them!

While I do not include making breakfast for you in the room rate (I'm just too busy...) you are welcome to use the kitchen to cook yourself some of our fresh farm eggs. Yum! Sometimes I have homemade yoghurt available. And always available are fresh excellent coffee and a choice of teas.

This year I am trying my hand at cut-flower growing. I hope to sell some flowers but I'm sure I'll at least have plenty to offer fresh flowers in your room.

I have a housemate, Joel, who is a super sweet young guy who helps me out. Depending on when you come, he may be the one to greet you. He loves to play quiet music and sing. You can see his pic in the photo section.

I have another bedroom listed on Airbnb... in case you need two rooms. We love to host children! They especially love the chickens, the cats, and the secret room (watch them try to find it!)

The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby and all the fun of Asheville is right up the road (but no bus service out here). Ask me about dancing!

I speak some Turkish, a smattering of German, and I have a close Swiss friend who speaks fluent Italian, German, and French who would be happy to help out.

Please come join me at my pretty country home. I'd love to have you!
