Traditional Uechi-ryū Karate Academy of Ohio

We offer classes for teens and adults at the CrossFit Medina Gym. Students train in traditional Uechi-ryū (上地流) Karate-do, a style of Okinawan karate that emphasizes simplicity, through development of quick striking techniques; and stability, through cultivation of a conditioned body.

Because of this, Uechi-ryū is considered a self-preservation system instead of a sport oriented system. Instilling a sense of situational awareness and intelligent defense is a key focus during Uechi-ryū training. Beyond obvious physical benefits, through training, students garner enhanced levels of discipline, modesty, respect, gratitude, and fortitude.
